oak spring children's garden mural

This spring, I completed on a bit of a dream project, working with Oak Spring Garden Foundation’s Biocultural Garden to design and paint a mural for the entryway of the newly renovated Children’s Garden. The mural drew on the Garden’s focus on sustainable farming, dye and fiber plants, medicinal plants, heirloom vegetables, and ornamental flowers. Each area of focus was accompanied by characters inspired by native Virginia wildlife, with each character helping in the garden’s care. The project was completed during the March 2026 Interdisciplinary residency at Oak Spring.

Special thanks to Christine Harris, Ginger Anderson, and Danielle Eady for making this project happen, and Danielle and James Adelman for making the residency experience a special one. Also thank you to Fred Griffith and Rick Thorpe on the carpentry & maintenance team for all your help with the installation process, and everyone in the Corydalis cohort for your company, friendship, and just generally inspiring presence! And extra special thanks to Tiffany West for your photographic talents, and Joshua Rector for your videography!
